Grandmaster Yong Woo Kim
9th Dan Black Belt, Chundukwan Taekwondo

Grandmaster Kim was born and raised in Korea, and moved to the United States in 1979. He began studying Taekwondo at the age of 12, and progressing quickly, earned his fourth dan black belt while serving as a Taekwondo instructor in the Korean army.

Once in the USA, he competed for several years in full-contact tournaments sponsored by the Professional Karate Association, and garnered many victories, usually knocking out his opponent in the first round. He became the Colorado State Welterweight Champion in 1981.

In 1980, he opened his first Taekwondo school in partnership, and in 1984, moved to Utah and launched the first dojang of his very own school, "Kim's Academy".

Grandmaster Kim is an Ninth dan black belt, and has won numerous awards and tournaments. He is is a former the state of Utah Taekwondo President. Even with his impressive track record, he says he receives the most satisfaction from seeing his own students progress and achieve, and go on to win awards of their own.


Master J. Godfrey
4th Dan Black Belt, Taekwondo

Master Godfrey started Taekwaodo at age 12 and earned his Blackbelt under Grandmaster Kim. He loves Martial arts and enjoys watching martial art video clips thinking of new ways to innovate. He is passionate about passing along the great tradition of taekwondo to his family and community.

Master Brandon Williams
5th Dan Black Belt, Taekwondo
4th Dan Black Belt, Hapkido
1st Dan Black Belt, Haidong Gumdo

Brandon Williams is 41 years old. He grew up in a military family and lived all over the United States and Europe. He started martial arts at the age of five, and moved to Utah when he was nine. When he was 15 his interest in martial arts really took off. He searched around for just the right studio to attend. After finding Kim's Academy and talking with Grand Master Kim, he eagerly signed up. Brandon has competed in multiple tournaments and took first place in a Utah State championship.


Michael Kim
5th Dan Black Belt, Taekwondo
1st Dan Black Belt, Hapkido

Michael Kim started studying Taekwondo when he was only 5 years old. 35 years later he still loves training hard and teaching both kids and adults how to improve their martial arts abilities. In addition to Taekwondo and Hapkido, Michael enjoys brazilian jujitsu, basketball, and long walks on the beach.
